Duoprime PET Surface Activator

For foils.

← All products
Duoprime® PET is a 1K water-borne UV surface activator that bonds covalently to any untreated PET in your own UV coating line. It gives TCA-level adhesion for demanding topcoats and inks — without etching the film or paying the premium for TCA pre-treated film. UV-assisted chemistry converts the inert PET surface into reactive acrylate groups, so the next layer — a UV ink, or a UV or EB top coat — is chemically connected across the interface. Isocyanate-free, photoinitiator-free, no pot life. Applied at 5–10 g/m² with a standard gravure coater and activated with the Hg lamps already in PET UV lacquering lines, it is a drop-in: buy any standard untreated PET (BOPET, PETg, rPET) and add adhesion in your own line. After activation it forms a thin film: primed rolls can be rewound, printed on and stored for months before the next coat. Prime and finish in-line, or prime now and coat later. The covalent bond also survives tight bending: small bend radii and 3D wrapping without cracking. One primer, both sides. On the top side it anchors UV lacquer and print; on the back side it promotes PU adhesive bonding to MDF or wood, including PUR hot-melt and PU dispersions. One product to qualify, stock and buy.

How Duoprime PET works

01  PRIME 5–10 g/m²

Gravure application on standard untreated PET — no corona, no etching, no pre-treated film.

02  UV-ACTIVATE

Warm Hg lamp, 100 mJ/cm² measured in UVA. The activator forms a thin film — rolls can be rewound and stored — and the PET stays anchorable for months.

03  COAT & CURE

Apply UV ink, a UV or EB top coat — or PU adhesive on the back side — in-line or later, and cure to the supplier’s recommendation.
