Water-borne activation of melamine panels
Some lines and some certifications call for a water-borne primer. Duoprime® MW is the water-borne melamine activator: 0% VOC, no isocyanates, no IR dryer needed — and digital print can go straight onto the activated surface.
Duoprime® MW is the water-borne version of the melamine surface activator: 0% VOC, 0% isocyanates, Nordic Swan compliant for furniture panels, supplied ready to use.
It is applied at 6–10 g/m² on standard rubber rollers and, unlike other water-borne systems, does not have to be dry before the UV lamp — a slightly wet surface is fine, so no IR dryer is needed and the line keeps its speed. After activation with a full-spectrum Hg lamp the layer is dry and tack-free but not yet cross-linked: digital print or a UV base coat can be applied directly onto it.
The activator cross-links fully when that next layer is cured, and becomes part of it — one coating, covalently bonded to the melamine, on all common laminate types: CPL, LPL, HPL and TFL.
