Duoprime® MW is a 1K water-borne UV-reactive surface activator for melamine. It converts inert melamine groups on the panel surface into reactive acrylate groups, so the next UV coating bonds covalently to the melamine/TFL surface — there is no soft primer layer to protect. Applied on standard roller coaters at 6–10 g/m², it is compatible with all common melamine laminate types (CPL, LPL, HPL, TFL) and robust across panel batch variations. Nordic Swan compliant for furniture panels.
Unlike other water-borne systems the layer does not need to be fully dry before UV, so no IR drying is needed and line speed stays up on standard UV lines. After UV activation the layer is dry and tack-free but not yet cross-linked — digital print can be applied directly on it — and it cross-links completely when the next UV layer is cured, becoming part of one monolithic coating on the hard melamine surface. Verified with matte, supermatte (excimer) and high-gloss UV systems from several major manufacturers.

How Duoprime MW works
01 APPLY 6–10 g/m²
Roller application on standard rubber rollers, on a clean, grease-free panel — no sanding. No IR drying: a slightly wet surface is fine before UV.
02 UV-ACTIVATE
Undoped full-spectrum Hg lamp, 600–700 mJ/cm² measured in UVA. The layer is now dry and tack-free but not yet cross-linked — digital print can go directly on it.
03 COAT + CURE
Apply the next layer of a compatible UV system. The activator cross-links fully when this layer is cured and becomes part of it — one monolithic coating.
