Thin, low-cost matte finish on melamine-faced panels
A thin, inexpensive super-matte finish for smooth or structured melamine-faced particle board: 1 g/m² of Duoprime® M, a lighter base coat and an excimer top — 20–60 g/m² in total.
For volume panels the question is how little coating gives a durable matte surface. Because Duoprime® M anchors the base coat directly to the melamine, the base coat no longer has to protect a soft primer layer and can be applied thinner. The whole system — activator, base coat and excimer top coat — lands at 20–60 g/m² depending on the hardness of the top coat, while scratch resistance stays above 4 N (EN 438-2). With a suitable top coat the base coat can be skipped entirely — activator and top coat only.
The line stays as it is: standard roller coaters, standard Hg lamps, standard base and top coats at lower application weights, and no sanding of the melamine. Structured melamine surfaces keep their texture. Complete coating systems are available through our approved distributors, and coated samples on request.
