Direct UV printing on standard PET film
UV inks do not stick to untreated PET. Duoprime® PET lets you buy standard film and add the adhesion in your own line — then print straight onto it, today or months later.
Digital and flexo UV inks do not adhere to untreated PET. The usual route is film that has been chemically pre-treated by the film maker — a premium on every square metre, and a commitment to the few suppliers who offer it.
With Duoprime® PET you buy standard film — BOPET, PETg or rPET — and add the adhesion yourself: 5–10 g/m² on a gravure coater, activated by a warm Hg lamp at around 100 mJ/cm² UVA. The UV ink is printed straight onto the activated surface and bonds covalently to it, with TCA-level adhesion and no etching of the film.
The activation does not fade the way corona does: primed rolls can be stored and printed months later, so priming and printing do not have to happen on the same line or the same day. And because the bond is covalent, printed film can be wrapped around tight radii without the ink cracking or lifting.
