About Mercene

Mission & Vision

Creating value together

Our mission is to remove adhesion as a constraint in modern manufacturing, unlocking reliable bonding on demanding surfaces for better performance, higher yield, and simplified coating processes. Our vision is to let product designers and process engineers think beyond traditional limits—creating new product innovations across furniture, flooring, foils and edgebands.

"When adhesion just works, we can focus on performance, sustainability and growth."

Our History

From academic research to industrial scale: a decade of innovation.

  1. 2012

    KTH Research Origins

Research by the founders at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology lays the scientific foundation.

  2. 2013

    Spin-off Company

Mercene is born with a focus on heterogenous material integration in industrial manufacturing processes.

  3. 2016

    Industrial surfaces

Focuses on solving adhesion challenges on industrial surfaces in the coatings industry, building processes for reliability and scale; raised investment to scale up.

  4. 2020

    Melamine surface activators

After many iterations and refinments with pilot customers, the first commercial melamine surface activator is launched into production, delivering reliable adhesion on exlusive high wear surfaces.

  5. 2022

    System distributor partners

Our melamin surface activator is marketed and sold by our first distributor, enabling a one-stop-shop for complete optimized surface finishes, from super-matte to high gloss.

  6. 2023

    First 15M square meters adhesion

Our melamine surface activator is increasing in popularity and had now been used on 15 million sqm decorative panels.

  7. 2024

Expansion into PP & PET Primers

UV activated primers for PP edgebands and PET foils is developed.
